The West Vikings were the 52-38 winner over the East Bakersfield Blades when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. West lost to East Bakersfield on the road by a decisive 50-33 margin on Thursday. West's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Despite the defeat, West saw an underclassman step up: Iyanna King mathews scored 17 points along with five steals. King mathews is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last four games she's played. Rhianna Roberson was another key contributor, scoring five points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
East Bakersfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Saryah Webster led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Webster scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Esmeralda Roman, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and six steals.
West's loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for East Bakersfield, their victory bumped their record up to 15-13.
West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. East Bakersfield also has no future games currently scheduled.
