Basketball Recap: Greater Beckley Christian's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Greater Beckley Christian needed a changed in momentum after dropping nine straight games and they got it from Leah Adkins. The Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders breezed by the Pipestem Christian Academy Panthers to the tune of 61-26 on Monday thanks in part to Adkins, who posted 32 points along with five rebounds and five steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Aislinn Pelfrey, who put up seven points and 15 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 13 or more in the last five games she's played.

Greater Beckley Christian's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Pipestem Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greater Beckley Christian will venture away from home to face off against Elk Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Greater Beckley Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games. As for Pipestem Christian Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mount Hope Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 13, 2025.
