Laurel Christian put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let the Sylva Bay Academy Saints get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. Considering the Lions have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Gracie Blackwell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in July.
In other batting news, Bella Horn was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases and three runs. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bella Williamson, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Laurel Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Laurel Christian's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
