The Fort Calhoun Pioneers typically have all the answers at home, but on Saturday the Raymond Central Mustangs proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 57-49 win over the Pioneers. That's another feather in the cap for Raymond Central, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Fort Calhoun lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bria Bench, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Raeann Massey, who scored 12 points along with six steals.
Raymond Central's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-7. As for Fort Calhoun, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6.
Raymond Central will take on Conestoga at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Conestoga is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Fort Calhoun, they will head out on the road to square off against Arlington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Arlington will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
