Ontario Christian is 9-1 against Aquinas since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Ontario Christian Knights will look to defend their home court against the Aquinas Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ontario Christian waltzed into their game on Thursday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They really took it to Rancho Christian for the full four quarters, racking up a 87-50 victory at home. With Ontario Christian ahead 43-21 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Ontario Christian found their leader in underclassman Kaleena Smith, who scored 37 points along with eight assists and seven steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Ontario Christian's points. Amanda Ajobiewe was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Aquinas came tearing into Monday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 59-39 margin over Pacifica Christian/Orange County. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Aquinas has posted since December 27, 2023.
Aquinas' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madeleine De Kodia led the charge by scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and six steals. De Kodia has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeleine Barker, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds.
Ontario Christian's win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Aquinas, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's match: Ontario Christian have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having averaged 10.3 threes per game. It's a different story for Aquinas, though, as they've been averaging only 2.3 threes per game. Given Ontario Christian's sizeable advantage in that area, Aquinas will need to find a way to close that gap.
