Cheniyah Jackson spent all four innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sydney Minshall, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Danni Lynn, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South Effingham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Greenbrier made easy work of Brunswick on Tuesday and carried off a 12-3 win. The Wolfpack haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Josie McQuillan was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September. Harlem Waul was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Greenbrier's win bumped their record up to 19-8. As for South Effingham, their victory bumped their record up to 17-2.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South Effingham has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .495. However, it's not like Greenbrier struggles in that department as they've averaged .472. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South Effingham came out on top in a nail-biter against Greenbrier in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, sneaking past 9-8. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Wolfpack have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
