The Montgomery Aztecs will head out to face off against the Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Montgomery's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Mater Dei Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Tuesday, Montgomery beat Olympian 4-1. The victory continues a trend for the Aztecs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won nine in a row.
Andr?s Ruvalcaba tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cesar Abdul, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Marco Reyes was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Montgomery kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Olympian only managed five.
Mater Dei Catholic not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 21st (when they won 16-0). They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Hilltop. Considering the Crusaders have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Gael Perez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Mater Dei Catholic got a big performance out of Mateo Gonzalez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Jauregui, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Montgomery's record is now 14-11. As for Mater Dei Catholic, their record now sits at 15-10.
Montgomery couldn't quite get it done against Mater Dei Catholic in their previous matchup on Thursday as they fell 6-3. Can the Aztecs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
