Basketball Recap: Madison Bunger's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wilcox-Hildreth over Silver Lake

Wilcox-Hildreth has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 45-35 to the Silver Lake Mustangs on Tuesday. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madison Bunger, who posted seven points and seven rebounds. Bunger has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played. Madison Sheen was another key player, putting up nine points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Silver Lake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophie Schmidt, who went 9 for 14 on her way to 22 points. Another player making a difference was Katy Soucek, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards.

Wilcox-Hildreth's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Silver Lake, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-2.

Wilcox-Hildreth has already played their next contest, a 54-26 win against Franklin on the 31st. As for Silver Lake, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 38-22 victory against Lawrence-Nelson on the 31st.
