It was a good run, but the Chartiers Valley Colts unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Bethel Park by a score of 48-46. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Chartiers Valley came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Bethel Park is ranked 182nd).
Chartiers Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Emma Reynolds, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Iyla Ozbey, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Chartiers Valley's loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Bethel Park, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chartiers Valley will square off against Baldwin at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Baldwin is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Bethel Park, they will head out on the road to take on Canon-McMillan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Canon-McMillan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Monday.
