Azusa took a 34-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Lucy's. The contest was a 12-12 toss-up at halftime, but Azusa was outscored by St. Lucy's in the second.
Several Aztecs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lilliana Maldonado, who scored 7 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Maldonado has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ruby Untoria, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
St. Lucy's got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kira Carroll out in front who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 10 steals. Carroll has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Danika Mejico, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds.
Azusa has yet to win a contest on the road this season, leaving them with a 6-2 record. As for St. Lucy's, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
