Basketball Recap: Matthew Poston Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Alpha Academy

Riverside Christian Academy won the last time they faced Alpha Academy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Royals blew past the Timberwolves 83-59. The Royals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Riverside Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Poston, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 19 boards. Thanks to that strong game, Poston now owns an excellent 45.3% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Moises Gonzalez, who shot 45% from the field on his way to 24 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Riverside Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Alpha Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Angelo Barcinas, who went 5-for-8 en route to 12 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Lamar Johnson, who made all 5 shots he took racking up 10 points.

Riverside Christian Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Alpha Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Riverside Christian Academy and Alpha Academy will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Royals see the court they'll take on New Life Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 2. As for Alpha Academy, their break will end when they face FAITH Homeschool at 6:15 p.m. on December 4.
