The Brawley Wildcats will head out to face off against the Temecula Valley Golden Bears at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Brawley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
Brawley will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Hoover on Friday. Everything went Brawley's way against Hoover as Brawley made off with a 30-2 win. That looming 30-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.
Ozyel Villanueva made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Brawley got a massive performance out of Sergio Garcia, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Garcia has posted since back in April of 2024. Jonh Angel Aguirre was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.
Brawley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .830. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Temecula Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Yucaipa on Monday, taking the game 8-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Bears.
Like Brawley, Temecula Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Taden Krogsgaard. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Krogsgaard was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Cole Jones was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Will Bandel, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Temecula Valley now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Brawley, their record is now 4-1.
Temecula Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Brawley has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Temecula Valley, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Brawley's sizable advantage in that area, Temecula Valley will need to find a way to close that gap.
