Even though the Round Valley Mustangs have not done well against the Willits Wolverines recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Round Valley put the hurt on Willits with a sharp 51-25 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Round Valley.
Willits' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hazel Cooke, who scored 13 points. The matchup was Cooke's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cecily Potter, who scored 9 points.
The win got Round Valley back to even at 2-2. As for Willits, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Round Valley will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Laytonville at 4:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Willits will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against South Fork at 3:00 p.m. on December 8th.
