Ridgeview has gone a perfect 6-0 against Arvin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Wolf Pack will face off against the Bears at 3:30 p.m. Ridgeview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Ridgeview took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Arroyo Grande.
Joel Gutierrez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Gutierrez was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Martin Castro, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Stevens, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
The home team had won the previous seven meetings between Arvin and South, and Arvin kept the tradition alive. The Bears were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Spartans on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won six in a row.
Like Ridgeview, Arvin also got a great game from a two-way player: Alex Nunez. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Nunez has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Marco Guzman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
Arvin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South only posted an OBP of .105.
Ridgeview's record now sits at 3-1. As for Arvin, their record is now 2-0.
Ridgeview got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 against Arvin by a conclusive 13-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolf Pack since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
