Millington Central has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Brighton Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Monday, Millington Central ended up a good deal behind Newton and lost 58-43.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Bailey Boone, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Alana Whiten, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Brighton had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 43-27 win over Craigmont on Friday. Winning is a bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 20% better than the opposition, as Brighton's was.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brighton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayla Jones, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Da'lyjah Maclin, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Millington Central's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Brighton, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Millington Central have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 20.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Brighton, though, as they've been averaging only 28.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Millington Central strolled past Brighton in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 42-25. Will Millington Central repeat their success, or does Brighton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
