There's no place like home for Granite Hills, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Silverado Hawks on Friday as they made off with a 9-3 win. Considering the Cougars have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Caden Wharton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Vincent Jarvis was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Shane Vasquez, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Granite Hills has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Silverado, they moved to 8-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
