The Canyon Cowboys will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Westlake Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Canyon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 242 points over their last four games.
Last Friday, Canyon strolled past West Ranch with points to spare, taking the game 57-42. Given Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while West Ranch is ranked 419th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Canyon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kodia ?Koko? Booker out in front who scored 18 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Escribano, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Westlake's good fortune finally ran out two weeks ago. They fell just short of North by a score of 50-48.
Despite their loss, Westlake saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Mathis Dritz, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The game was Dritz's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Devin Feiereisen was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 4 steals.
Their wins bumped Canyon to 4-2 and West Ranch to 4-2.
Canyon came up short against Westlake when the teams last played back in December of 2019, falling 43-31. Thankfully for Canyon, Mariah Elohim (who scored 19 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
