Basketball Recap: Mira Mesa Falls Despite Big Games from Alyssa Otero and Ivorii Seals

Mira Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 49-41 to the Scripps Ranch Falcons. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Marauders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-47 back in January.

Mira Mesa's loss came despite strong showings from Ivorii Seals and Alyssa Otero. Seals dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Otero posted 16 points and seven boards. That's the most boards Seals has posted since back in December of 2023.

Scripps Ranch was led to victory by Ree Ree Davis and Clare Valentine. Davis went 8 for 13 en route to 21 points along with six steals and five rebounds, while Valentine put up 18 points and six boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Valentine has scored at least a third of Scripps Ranch's points. Katrina Purcell was another key player, putting up four points in addition to seven rebounds and seven blocks.

Mira Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Scripps Ranch, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Mira Mesa has already played their next game (against Cathedral Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Scripps Ranch has already played their next contest, a 48-42 win against Montgomery on the 1st.
