After each having a week off, the St. David's Warriors and the GRACE Christian Eagles will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. David's has given up an average of 32 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
St. David's is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Carolina's top teams: Faith Christian, who was ranked fourth at the time (St. David's was ranked tenth). The matchup between the Warriors and the Patriots didn't end well, with the Warriors falling 48-30. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost three in a row.
Defeat or not, St. David's got some senior leadership from Spence Saik and Mccauley Steele. Saik threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes, while Steele picked up 147 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Steele really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 75 yards.
Meanwhile, GRACE Christian came tearing into last Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Generals 42-12. The Eagles' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
GRACE Christian's win came from a few key players St. David's will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Josiah Waters, who threw for 233 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 passes, and also rushed for 38 yards and a pair of scores. GRACE Christian's leading receiver Christopher White was Waters' top target yet again, picking up 159 receiving yards and three TDs.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to GRACE Christian's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Keaton Kryder, Jackson Green, and Jay Davis, who each picked up one sack apiece.
St. David's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for GRACE Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
