The Purchase Line Red Dragons had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Northern Cambria with a 56-52 victory on Thursday. The win was just what Purchase Line needed coming off of a 60-25 loss in their prior matchup.
Purchase Line can attribute much of their success to Jianna Hopkins, who scored 24 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Layden, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Purchase Line's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8. As for Northern Cambria, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-7.
Purchase Line won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Harmony Area at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Harmony Area is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Northern Cambria, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Penns Manor at 7:15 p.m. Penns Manor presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Northern Cambria in Pennsylvania (Penns Manor is ranked 100th, while Northern Cambria is ranked 511th).
