Wylie East has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the DeSoto Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Wylie East had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 23-14 win over Tyler Legacy on Friday. Given Wylie East's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Tyler Legacy is ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Michael Henderson iii was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, DeSoto put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 50-10 win over Harker Heights. The result was nothing new for DeSoto, who have now won nine contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Marvin Duffey and Deondrae Riden jr. were among the main playmakers for DeSoto as the former rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries and the latter rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Duffey's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Bailey, who threw for 102 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes.
Wylie East's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.8 points per game. As for DeSoto, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.
