MaxPreps continues its preview of the Major League Baseball Draft, which is scheduled to begin June 12, with a look at the top five right-handed pitchers.
Top 5 right-handed pitchers
Hans Crouse, Dana Hills (Dana Point, Calif.)
The top right-handed prep pitcher available is Hunter Greene of Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, Calif.), but he is also a possible shortstop candidate and was previewed
here. Exactly where other prep righties will be taken is up for debate, but a high number will be taken in the first round and Crouse is one. At 6-foot-5, 185 pounds, he has a projectable body type and already throws in the high 90s. Sketchy mechanics and the lack of a plus curve could result in Crouse dropping some in the first round. Crouse went 7-3 with 99 strikeouts in 63.1 innings pitched for Dana Hills.
Potential selection: End of first round
Alex Scherff, Colleyville Heritage (Colleyville, Texas)Scherff played at three different schools in his four years, returning to Colleyville Heritage for his senior year after starting there as a freshman. At 6-4, Scherff has a tall, athletic build and has a fastball that hits the mid-90s. He went 15-0 with 144 strikeouts, three no-hitters and a perfect game as a senior.
Potential selection: End of first round

Possible MLB draft picks include Calvin Mitchell, Mark Vientos, Hans Crouse, Hunter Greene and Joe Perez.

Blayne Enlow, St. Amant (La.)Another pitcher who projects well, Enlow is 6-4 and 180 pounds, so scouts expect to see some growth. That growth could add velocity to his fastball, which sits in the low 90s. Enlow's key pitch, however, might be his curve. He posted a 5-3 record at St. Amant this spring with 101 strikeouts and a 1.00 ERA in 69.2 innings pitched.
Potential selection: Second round
Hagen Danner, Huntington Beach (Calif.)Danner showed a lot of potential as an everyday players this year, hitting .350 with 11 home runs and 40 RBIs for the Oilers, who played one of the toughest schedules in the nation this year. He has three pitches at his disposal, including a 94 mph fastball. His mechanics are solid, but scouts don't expect his velocity to get any higher.
Potential selection: Second round
Shane Baz, Concordia Lutheran (Tomball, Texas)Scouts are intrigued by the high number of pitches Baz can throw for strikes, led by a 95-mph fastball. Baz also has good command of a cutter and a slider. He's been pegged as high as a mid-first round choice and posted a 6-3 record with a 0.93 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 52.2 innings pitched for Concordia Lutheran this year.
Potential selection: Second round
