Baseball Recap: Bishop O'Dowd Comes Up Short

Bishop O'Dowd was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Central Catholic Raiders. The game marked the Dragons' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Bishop O'Dowd saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Stewart, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Stewart has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another was Lucas Partrite, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

Bishop O'Dowd's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Central Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop O'Dowd will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Piedmont at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th. As for Central Catholic, they will take on Saint Francis at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
