Peabody-Burns is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will head out to square off against the Marais des Cygnes Valley Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Peabody-Burns will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
Peabody-Burns is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Pawnee Heights 58-26. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Peabody-Burns got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aiden Hurst out in front who rushed for 123 yards and two TDs on only ten carries, and also threw for 193 yards and four touchdowns. Dalton Philpott was another key back, gaining 193 total yards and three touchdowns.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Peabody-Burns' defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jameson Miles and Joesuf Aydelott, who racked up four sacks between them. Aydelott is crushing it when it comes to sacks: he's posted at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, after only six points in their last contest, Marais des Cygnes Valley made sure to put some points up on the board against Altoona-Midway on Friday. The Trojans claimed a resounding 54-6 win over the Jets. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 48 points or more this season.
Peabody-Burns better focus on containing Landon Reed and Ricky Traver as the pair were huge in Marais des Cygnes Valley's win. Reed threw for 235 yards and six TDs while completing 76.2% of his passes, while Traver gained 122 total yards and three touchdowns. Traver really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Marais des Cygnes Valley, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Traver, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
The victory got Peabody-Burns back to even at 2-2. As for Marais des Cygnes Valley, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Peabody-Burns has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 214.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Marais des Cygnes Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 165.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Peabody-Burns against Marais des Cygnes Valley in their previous meeting last Friday, as the team secured a 51-6 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Traver, who rushed for 93 yards and one score on only ten carries.
