Baseball Recap: Hamilton Wins Going Away Against California Military Institute

Hamilton barely beat California Military Institute the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hamilton Bobcats blew past the California Military Institute Rough Riders 26-7 on Wednesday. With that victory, the Bobcats brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

Seth Aanestad made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hamilton is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Aanestad was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and six RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Hamilton let Kenneth Orozco and Joey Alvarez run wild. Orozco scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Alvarez went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Hamilton is 2-1 when Alvarez posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gustavo Villalobos, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Hamilton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .698. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Hamilton and bumps their season record up to 2-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for California Military Institute, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hamilton will take on Temecula Prep at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Hamilton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season. As for California Military Institute, they will welcome Desert Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
