Two dominant signal callers in Diego Montes and Tim Tanner Jr are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Kennedy Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Sylmar Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kennedy is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
Kennedy's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave on Friday, when they got past Panorama's usually-dominant defense. The Cougars took their contest with ease, bagging a 42-7 win over the Pythons. With the Cougars ahead 28-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Kennedy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Francisco Ceja, who picked up 115 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Ceja continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another rusher making a difference was Josue Sandoval, who gained 68 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Sylmar's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Van Nuys by a score of 49-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Spartans have suffered since September 6, 2024.
Kennedy will need to focus on slowing down Reyleo Reyes, one of several Sylmar players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 51 yards and two scores, and also picked up 39 receiving yards. Ricardo Azernitzky also helped out with an impressive 84 receiving yards.
Sylmar's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Kennedy, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Kennedy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 201.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sylmar struggles in that department as they've been averaging 165.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Kennedy against Sylmar in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 56-28 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
