Julie Rodriguez

Julie Rodriguez has been named player of the year. "I watched Julie on her path to achieving her dream of becoming a UCLA softball player for the last 14 years. It was from an early time, as a camper,I could see she was not only a special player, but also a special individual. Julie is wise beyond her years, yet full of youthful energy. She is competitive, yet caring. She is single minded of purpose, yet considerate of everyone around her. From the moment she entered our program, she made an impact. The way she approaches her training, practices, and games is the way coaches dream of having all players conduct themselves. Without being reminded, Julie sprints on and off the field, helps other players, carries equipment, arrives early and stays late. I have coached two varsity sports for twenty years and would say Julie is among the top student athletes, on and off the field, I've coached or ever will coach. There is no student athlete who I have come in contact with who is more determined or thrives more in the face of adversity."
