    Abigail Stomp has been named player of the year. "Abigail Stomp was the captain and team leader on the undefeated Class 6A State Champion La Cueva Bears. Abby leads all 6A players in assists (727) and the La Cueva Bears have the highest team hitting percentage of 0.277. Abby is also the 6A leader in service aces (78) and is second in total blocks (154). She also has 99 kills and 198 digs. Abby was selected as the Class 6A District 2 Player of the Year. Rio Rancho Head Coach Toby Manzanares said it best about Abby - "she really has a great feel for the game, really directs her offense and distributes the ball well. When things get tight, she's the kid who just takes over. "She flips the ball all over the court and really forces our defense. Her decisions have been really good all year and she's a great kid, to boot." Abby works hard every play of every game for her teammates and coach. Throughout the season and especially during the State Tournament, Abby showed that she is the most complete and best player in the State."
