Shiprock Chieftains (Shiprock, NM) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad overcome the visiting Aztec Tigers (Aztec, NM), 53-44 in a league bout.

With the victory, Shiprock upgrades its record to 12-7 on the campaign. The Chieftains host Farmington (Farmington, NM) to play the Scorpions in a 4A District 1 bout on Tuesday, February 9. The Scorpions come into the bout with a record of 5-18. Farmington lost 62-46 in their recent league bout against Piedra Vista (Farmington, NM)

Next up, the Tigers play the Shiprock Chieftains (Shiprock, NM) in a 4A District 1 bout, on Thursday, February 11. Aztec will attempt to upgrade on its 8-13 season record. The Chieftains come into the bout with a 14-7 record after their 64-48 league win over Farmington (Farmington, NM).
