Clayton Yellowjackets (Clayton, NM) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Springer Red Devils (Springer, NM), 62-61 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Clayton upgrades its record to 16-2 on the campaign. The Yellowjackets travel to Texico (Texico, NM) to play the Wolverines in a 2A District 4 bout on Friday, January 31. The Wolverines come into the bout with a record of 15-1. Texico won 87-42 in their recent non-league bout against Eunice (Eunice, NM)

Coming up next, the Red Devils confront the Fort Sumner Foxes/Vixens (Fort Sumner, NM) in a non-league battle, on Saturday, February 1. Springer will attempt to improve on its 9-7 season record.
