Zuni Thunderbirds (Zuni, NM) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Tohatchi Cougars (Tohatchi, NM), 61-50 in a league bout.

With the win, Zuni upgrades its record to 6-9 on the season. The Thunderbirds host Shiprock (Shiprock, NM) to play the Chieftains in a 3A District 1 bout on Saturday, January 29. The Chieftains go into the bout with a record of 6-12. Shiprock won 63-38 in their recent league bout against Thoreau (Thoreau, NM)

Next up, the Cougars play the Shiprock Chieftains (Shiprock, NM) in a 3A District 1 bout, on Thursday, February 3. Tohatchi will attempt to upgrade on its 1-8 season record. The Chieftains go into the bout with a 7-12 record after their 80-64 league win over Zuni (Zuni, NM).
