The Thoreau Hawks triumphed over the visiting Newcomb Skyhawks softball squad by a count of 17-6 in Tuesday's league challenge.

Next, the Hawks meet the Tohatchi Cougars (Tohatchi, NM) in a 3A District 1 challenge, on Thursday, April 16. Thoreau will attempt to upgrade on its 3-9 season record. The Cougars enter the challenge with a 5-11 record after their 15-3 league win over Zuni (Zuni, NM).

The Skyhawks (3-13) will now prepare for their challenge against Wingate (Fort Wingate, NM). The Bears enter the 3A District 1 challenge with a 7-9 record. In their last challenge, Wingate was routed by Shiprock (Shiprock, NM), 14-4, in a non-league challenge.
