The Shiprock Chieftains (Shiprock, NM) softball routed the host Tohatchi Cougars (Tohatchi, NM), 16-1 in Friday's non-league bout.

The Chieftains (7-7) will now prepare for their bout against St. Michael (St. Michaels, AZ). The Cardinals go into the non-league bout with a 2-8 record. In their last bout, St. Michael was routed by Hopi (Keams Canyon, AZ), 15-10, in a non-league challenge.

With the loss, Tohatchi falls to 3-5 on the campaign. The Cougars host Navajo Pine (Navajo, NM) to face the Warriors in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, April 12. The Warriors enter the challenge with a record of 2-5. Navajo Pine won 17-11 in their recent non-league challenge against Newcomb (Newcomb, NM)
