Sutherland Knights (Pittsford, NY) fans exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they observed their baseball squad overcome the visiting Honeoye Falls-Lima Cougars (Honeoye Falls, NY), 6-4 in a league test.

With the win, Sutherland upgrades its record to 8-1 on the season. The Knights travel to Brighton (Rochester, NY) to battle the Barons in a Section 5 Monroe County III test on Friday, April 27. The Barons enter the battle with a record of 4-9.

The Cougars now possess a 5-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Eastridge for a Section 5 Monroe County III battle on Friday, May 4.

Behind the strong pitching of junior righthander Will Doggett, the Sutherland Knights defeated the Honeoye Falls Cougars 6-4 in divisional play. The Cougars got out to an early 3-0 lead only to see Knights put up 4 runs in the second inning courtesy of two walks and three errors.

Sutherland then used small ball to push another run across in the fourth. Kane Shaw singled, stole second, was sacrificed to third by Hunter Merrill and scored on Sean Menard's single to make the score 5-3. The Cougars got within 5-4 but the Knights tacked on an insurance run when they executed a 1st and 3rd steal play to go up 6-4.

This was enough for Doggett who struck out 5 of the last 6 batters to preserve the victory. Doggett scattered 8 hits while striking out 11 batters and only walking 1 hitter for his second win of the season.

Ryan Hallowell went 2 for 4 and Kane Shaw went 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored to lead the offense.
