Stat keeping for basketball teams
Nathan Hare has been named player of the year. "Nathan finishes his final UMHS season with Career Records in Goals (160), GPG (3.08), Points (235), PPG (4.52), Shots (391), ShPG (7.52). Single Season Records in Goals (2009-58, 2010-58) and GPG (2009-3.63). Single Game Records in Goals (05/06/10 – 9), Points (05/04/10 – 10, 05/06/10 – 10) and Shots (04/30/09 – 14). His contributions to the team go far beyond pure numbers and awards. He was voted one of the team captains in the pre-season of his junior year--a unanimous decision due to his clear dedication and leadership. His enthusiasm and drive are infectious and he is frequently encouraging his teammates when they are down. Nathan is consistently one of the driving forces in practice and conditioning. His devotion to improving his gameplay is unquestionable—he is always eager to know what he could do to get better and has taken any and all criticism as a chance to improve. Every single opportunity that he has to improve any aspect of his play/understanding/conditioning he will embrace it. These qualities cross over into Nathan’s off-field activities as well. Ultimately one of Nathan’s best traits is that he is a natural teacher as well. His leadership is clear every time he takes the field but is also evident off the field. His tutelage of younger players has been very valuable for our team. Due to his obvious talents lots of the younger players look up to him. Far too often you will see “all-stars” that have an attitude that they are above teaching or “too good” to give back. This is definitely NOT the case for Nathan. Time and again he makes an extra effort to help younger players improve their play through positive encouragement and specific pointers. Great players make the players around them better and with that as a criteria --both through gameplay and encouragement--Nathan truly makes those around him better. He will take his game to Robert Morris University in the fall and the coaching staff wishes him all the success that he deserves at the next level. "
