Walter Hester continued his excellent play recording 22 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals as Robeson won it's 3rd straight division game.
Walt exploded for a school record 24 points en route to a career high 28 as Robeson won the 3rd quarter 36-10 to blow open a close game. Walt shot 9-12 from the floor including 3-3 from three and 7-7 from the line. He also added 5 steals (see the December 22, 2017 edition of The Philadelphia Inquirer).
Walter scored consistently tallying 15 in each half en route to a new career high of 30. He added 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals as Robeson beat Collegium Charter and play Kennett tonight in the championship game of the Haverford High School Holiday Tournament.
Walter's 25 points, 6 offensive rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists, and clutch play in overtime led Robeson to a big divisional win against Overbrook in a battle for first place. Walter scored 5 points in the extra session including 3-4 from the free throw line to help clinch the victory.

Hester's clutch performance included him going 8-9 from the free throw line and playing lock down man-to-man defense in the 4th quarter.
Walter hit 6 three pointers (4 in the 2nd half) as Robeson extended the lead to 30 en route to a 1st round playoff victory. Hester added 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
Walter shot 8-9 on two-point field goals and had 17 of his team high 22 points in the first half mostly on driving fast break layups. The half ended in a 28-28 tie and the game remained close until the 4th quarter when Bartram pulled away.
Walter played a solid game contributing 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals in Robeson's disappointing opening round loss in the PIAA AA tournament.
In his 3rd year as a varsity starter, Walter had a breakout season with career highs in scoring (19.6 points per game), rebounds, assists, steals, and three-point baskets made. He was named a captain before the season and took that role seriously in helping to lead Robeson to a school record 20 wins and a division championship. Only a junior, Walter has another year left and is on pace to become Robeson's all-time leading scorer.
Walter scored a career high 31 points and a career high 10 steals in a dominating performance as Robeson opened the season with a 84-38 victory of Parkway Northwest in the first round of the Germantown Community Tournament.
Walter's 11 3rd quarter points including 3 three pointers gave Robeson the lead they eventually lost in this disappointing divisional loss to Washington. Walter finished with 27 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
On this special day, Walter scored his 1,000th career point on a steal and layup en route to 31 points, 7 rebounds, 7 steals, and 3 assists as Robeson beat Audenreid 67-59 in a non-league game.
Walter had his first career triple-double finishing with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists leading Robeson to a 61-50 victory over Collegium in the opening game of the Haverford High School Holiday Tournament.

Walter tied his career high with 37 points including 5 threes as Robeson fought back but fell short in a tough game against Eastern. Walter also had 6 rebounds and 4 steals as he continued to play inspired basketball during his outstanding senior season.
Walter scored 12 of his game high 27 points in the 4th quarter as his clutch play helped Robeson hold on to a 71-64 victory of Southern. Walter added 5 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 blocks in an outstanding all around performance. His ball handling , decision making, and perfect free throw shooting down the stretch put the game away.
Walter played another excellent game scoring in a variety of ways. He finished with 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals as Robeson came all the way back from a 15 point deficit but fell to Penn Wood 68-64 in the And 1 Classic at Gratz High School. Walter also received the Sportsman Award for his outstanding play and sportsmanship during the game.
Walter drained 7 threes in route to 36 points (18 in the 3rd quarter) and added 4 steals as short handed Robeson (7 players dressed) defeated String Theory 73-67. Nyaim Smith also had an outstanding game, finishing with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 7 steals, and 3 blocks.
On Senior Day, Walter poured in 30 points including 10 in the 4th quarter as Robeson edged Central 59-58. Walter now has 1,426 career points heading into next week's playoff game against Prep Charter. Robeson finished the regular season 9-2 in the division and 13-8 overall.
Walter had another 30 point game to go along 4 rebounds but Robeson lost to Prep Charter 64-58 in a 1st round playoff game. Nyaim Smith added 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals.
Walter scored a career high and school record 47 points and added the game winning assist to lead Robeson to a 94-92 overtime win in the District 12 Class A Semifinal game. He passed 1,500 career points as well. Nyaim Smith added 17 points, 19 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 blocks in another great all around performance.
Walter Hester had the greatest season in Paul Robeson history. He finished the season averaging 27.9 points in Public League play and 27.2 points overall. He also averaged 6.2 rebounds, 3.4 steals, and 2.8 assists. He broke several school records including all-time points (1,550), points per game in a season, total points in a season, and total wins in a career.
