Johnston Panthers (Johnston, RI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Westerly Bulldogs (Westerly, RI), 2-0 in a league challenge.

The Panthers now own a 9-2 record. They take the field next when they host Narragansett for a Division 2 challenge on Tuesday, May 14. Johnston will battle a Mariners squad coming off a 7-3 league loss to Portsmouth (Portsmouth, RI). The Mariners record now stands at 5-7.

With the loss, Westerly falls to 12-5 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host South Kingstown (Wakefield, RI) to battle the Rebels in a Division 2 challenge on Tuesday, May 14. The Rebels enter the challenge with a record of 5-5. South Kingstown won 14-4 in their recent league challenge against Burrillville (Harrisville, RI)
