Sophia Berg has been named player of the year. "Sophia capped off her phenomenal high school career in the best possible way, leading the team to the TAPPS 3A State Championship. She was named District MVP for the second straight year. She was a dominant offensive threat, with 683 kills (5.8 kills per set) and a 0.422 hitting efficiency, adding 134 aces at the serving line. On defense, Sophia had 79 solo blocks, 24 block assists, and 334 digs (2.8 digs per set). She was a primary passer for much of the season, with 396 receptions and a 2.22 pass rating. Down the stretch of district play and through playoffs, she played setter in three rotations, with 119 assists in eight matches (4.4 assists per set) in the position. Sophia had her best performances when it mattered most, with 78 kills (0.593 hitting efficiency), 11 aces, 57 assists, 23 digs, and 11 blocks in four playoff matches. As a senior team captain, Sophia was an outstanding leader and supportive teammate. Congratulations, Sophia, on a spectacular career!"
