Payson Lions (Payson, UT) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Layton Lancers (Layton, UT), 6-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Lions now own a 11-12 record. They take the field next when they travel to Northridge for a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 29. Payson will battle a Knights squad coming off a 18-7 league win over Viewmont (Bountiful, UT). The Knights record now stands at 7-5.

With the loss, Layton falls to 3-9 on the campaign. The Lancers travel to Box Elder (Brigham City, UT) to battle the Bees in a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 29. The Bees enter the challenge with a record of 12-4. Box Elder won 8-1 in their recent league challenge against Bonneville (Washington Terrace, UT)
