Spectators at Tuesday's league battle between the Goochland Bulldogs (Goochland, VA) and the host Nottoway Cougars (Nottoway, VA), saw Goochland's baseball squad knock off Nottoway by a count of 9-3.

Coming up next, the Bulldogs play the Bluestone Barons (Skipwith, VA) in a A James River battle, on Wednesday, May 15. Goochland will attempt to move on its 10-6 season record.

The Cougars now possess a 11-8 record. They take the field next when they host Cumberland for a A James River battle on Thursday, May 16. Nottoway will play a Dukes squad coming off a 6-3 league win over Buckingham (Buckingham, VA). The Dukes record now stands at 2-12.

Nottoway hitters got off to a fast start against Goochland starter Joe Cutchins putting 3 runs on the board in the 1st inning on 3 hits, an error, a sacrifice bunt and a ground ball out. After that Cutchins allowed only 4 more hits over the remaining 6 innings walking none to get the complete game win. Bulldog hitters got a single run home in both the 1st and 2nd inning and then were blanked over the next 3 innings before Cutchins knocked in the tying run in the 6th. The floodgates opened in the Bulldog 7th with 11 batters coming to the plate and 6 runs scoring on 5 hits and 3 walks. The big RBI hits in the inning came from Heath Parrish (#s 4 and 5), Joe Cutchins (#s 6 and 7), and finally with a line shot double off the left field wall by Trace Nixon that just missed being a grand slam home run bringing in #s 8 and 9. Multi-hit nights came from Cutchins (3-5, 1 run, 3 RBI), Nixon (2-4, 2 RBI), Noel (2-3, 2 runs) and Parrish (2-3, 2 runs, 2 RBI). Bulldogs 10-2 in district play.
