Walker Pioneers (Ewing, VA) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the visiting Pound Wildcats (Pound, VA), 65-59 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Walker upgrades its record to 2-4 on the season. The Pioneers travel to St. Paul (St. Paul, VA) to encounter the Deacons in a A Cumberland bout on Tuesday, January 4. The Deacons go into the bout with a record of 1-4. St. Paul lost 71-40 in their recent non-league bout against Nease (Ponte Vedra, FL)

Next up, the Wildcats encounter the Kelly Indians (Wise, VA) in a A Lonesome Pine bout, on Friday, January 7. Pound will attempt to upgrade on its 2-6 season record. The Indians go into the bout with a 2-3 record after their 58-43 non-league win over Clintwood (Clintwood, VA).
