Grant Karczewski

My name is Grant Karczewski. I've had a stick in my hands since I was three and have been playing since around the age of five. The game of lacrosse changed my life, it has carried me through stressful moments in school, and it has helped me through troubling times in general during my life. I want to further my education and continue giving back to the game of lacrosse with my drive, knowledge of the game, and physical capabilities. I care about my teammates, and they are family to me; when the 2020 season was taken from us, we were upset, and some of us were emotional, it quickly became a reality that we wouldn't be allowed to continue to build as a team for a whole year. We had already practiced unofficially and officially for around ten weeks. Our practicing and training brought us together and strengthened our bond. The loss of our season in 2020 taught me a valuable lesson; never take a practice or game for granted, always push my teammates, and give my absolute best regardless of what I am doing. I want to become the best player possible, and because of that, I work out every day, work on my footwork two to three times a week, and work on my conditioning daily. I learned how to be self-motivated from my dad; he has taught me to always go above and beyond in the classroom and on the field. My dad is my inspiration and my biggest role model; he was a college football player at the University of Virginia and had a brief career in the NFL. These things have made me the person I am today, and I am motivated to prove to a coach and program that I can help them win games.
