I began playing soccer in Taiwan, where very few girls played the sport. Moving to the states in 2017, I found that soccer was one thing that provided me an opportunity to meet new friends and better navigate US culture that in many ways was foreign to me. My desire is to continue growing in soccer, play for a competitive college team, and one day play in the NWSL and perhaps for the USWNT. I love studying and learning more about the game. I enjoy watching as much soccer as I can with my dad, and we often analyze the games to help increase my understanding of various styles of play and technique. One of the strengths this has given me is the ability to see the game unfold, letting me know when I need to play high up the side or drop back to contain the offensive players. I am very supportive of my teammates, and I am quick to offer encouragement on the field, help direct the defense, and my team has come to depend on me to deliver both corner kicks and free kicks. As a defender, I am not afraid to take on the 1v1 challenge, have the speed to track back, am tough to get by, and am able to draw out fouls by the other team. I am fortunate to have the strong support of my parents. They continually sacrifice to allow me to chase after my dreams and become the best soccer player that I can be. Like many athletes, my desire is to win, but I also am able to take a loss and learn from those experiences as I continue to grow as an athlete and as a person.
