Player of the Year
Samuel Click has been named player of the year. ""Offense wins games, defense wins championships." Everyone knew the juggernaut that Nitro had on offense this season. With Jordan, Schmitt, Bell, Mahairas, and the rest of the team, there would be no shortage of scoring. But the defensive players are the one's who held the strong competition down, shutting down the top offenses in the state. With great defensive play from Mayfield, Hale, Green and Stamper. A clutch & inspiring performance from Ayers in the Regional Final against Winfield. But it was, as the coaches said, "the field general" that held it all together, Sam Click. Sam overcame an early season concussion to finish strong. From directing traffic, to intercepting, stealing, tackling, delaying, denying, closing down passing lanes and marking & tracking attackers near the ball. Sam Click played a near perfect defensive season. For his performance, he earned 1st team WV AA/A All State honors. Congratulations on the MaxPreps Nitro Wildcats Player of the Year award!"
