No high school quarterback has ever thrown for more touchdowns than Leak, who completed 185 in his career at Independence, where he lost only one game as a starter while winning three state titles. His 15,593 career yards ranks second on the all-time national list and he was named the National Player of the Year by Parade and USA Today. Although he led Florida to a national championship during the 2006 season and was named the BCS National Championship Game MVP, he was not a finalist for the Heisman (although teammate Tim Tebow would win the trophy the following year). Leak played just one year in the NFL before moving to the Canadian Football League.
