Chris Leak, Independence (Charlotte, N.C.)No high school quarterback has ever thrown for more touchdowns than Leak, who completed 185 in his career at Independence, where he lost only one game as a starter while winning three state titles. His 15,593 career yards ranks second on the all-time national list and he was named the National Player of the Year by Parade and USA Today. Although he led Florida to a national championship during the 2006 season and was named the BCS National Championship Game MVP, he was not a finalist for the Heisman (although teammate Tim Tebow would win the trophy the following year). Leak played just one year in the NFL before moving to the Canadian Football League.
