Peoria Panthers (Peoria, AZ) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Cactus Cobras (Glendale, AZ), 7-4 in a league challenge.

The Panthers now own a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Copper Canyon for a II Section II challenge on Friday, March 2. Peoria will battle a Aztecs squad coming off a 21-1 non-league loss to Verrado (Buckeye, AZ). The Aztecs record now stands at 1-5.

With the loss, Cactus falls to 4-4 on the campaign. The Cobras travel to Apollo (Glendale, AZ) to battle the Hawks in a II Section II challenge on Tuesday, March 6. The Hawks enter the challenge with a record of 4-4. Apollo won 10-0 in their recent league challenge against Moon Valley (Phoenix, AZ)
