Katie McKiel

Katie McKiel has been named player of the year. "Katie is well deserving of this award. She is everything a coach loves in a player. My first year at Manitou Springs brought challenges & high expectations from community, family, & players. Katie welcomed me, bought into my system, displayed great leadership to her peers. My volleyball philosophy was somewhat different than previous coaches. I had a little than a month to prepare them - Katie stepped in & moved the process along. She is a fantastic athlete who has prepared herself well for the next level. That takes a great deal of maturity & understanding. Whats more important, she accepted a new role. The past two years she was the teams leading hitter & set receiver. My philosophy was to utilize more of our weapons, create a more multi-dimensional team. For Katie, this met less sets. She understood & welcomed her new role & championed her teammates. What more could a coach & teammates ask for? Katie meets Player of the Year criteria in both talent & as a team player."
