The Piedmont Panthers basketball team scored 71 points and held the host Anson Bearcats to 59 in the Panthers league triumph on Tuesday.

The Panthers now sport a 5-7 record. They put it on the line next when they host Forest Hills for a 2A/3A Rocky River contest on Tuesday, January 9. Piedmont will meet a Yellow Jackets team coming off a 77-58 league loss to Parkwood (Monroe, NC). The Yellow Jackets record now stands at 7-5.

The Bearcats (7-5) will now prepare for their contest against Central Academy (Monroe, NC). The Cougars enter the 2A/3A Rocky River contest with a 2-10 record. In their last contest, Central Academy was outscored by West Stanly (Oakboro, NC), 94-52, in a league contest.
