In Tuesday's league match, the host Union Area Scotties basketball team scored a tight 62-60 triumph over the Carlynton Cougars.

In their next game, the Scotties meet the Slippery Rock Rockets (Slippery Rock, PA) in a non-league match, on Wednesday, January 4. Union Area will attempt to move on its 8-0 season record. The Rockets enter the match with a 2-4 record after their 45-43 non-league win over Obama Academy of International Studies (Pittsburgh, PA).
