Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the New Hanover Wildcats (Wilmington, NC) and the host Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC), saw New Hanover's basketball squad overcome Laney by a tally of 45-37.

With the victory, New Hanover improves its record to 9-1 on the campaign. The Wildcats host Topsail (Hampstead, NC) to confront the Pirates in a 3A/4A Conference 20 challenge on Friday, January 6. The Pirates come into the challenge with a record of 3-10. Topsail won 67-61 in their recent league challenge against West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC)

Next up, the Buccaneers confront the South Brunswick Cougars (Southport, NC) in a 3A/4A Conference 20 challenge, on Friday, January 6. Laney will attempt to improve on its 13-1 season record. The Cougars come into the challenge with a 3-9 record after their 48-37 league loss to Ashley (Wilmington, NC).
